PhotoFacial (IPL)

GMAX Skin Rejuvenation

A PhotoFacial (IPL) treatment helps to improve sun-damaged skin and other skin imperfections through photo rejuvenation, giving the skin a more even tone and youthful appearance. It is the second most common laser or light treatment performed in North America after hair removal. At Bliss Medispa, we offer the GentleMax Pro® Laser. Our treatments are gentle, offering gradual results with minimal patient downtime and a low risk of side effects.

What Can Photo Facials Treat?

Photo-aged Skin: Reduces the appearance of sun-damaged skin.

Age Spots: Removes sun-induced freckles and other benign brown pigments like lentigines and melasma.

Vascular Lesions: Treats spider veins, redness, and broken blood vessels.

Acne and Rosacea: Effectively targets acne and reduces rosacea symptoms.

Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Smooths out fine lines and wrinkles.

Skin Tone and Texture: Improves overall skin tone and re-textures the skin.

Treatment Areas

Photo facial treatments can be applied to various areas of the body. The gentle, non-ablative treatments use broad-spectrum light to treat the face, chest, neck, hands, arms, and legs—virtually anywhere that sun damage shows.

How Does It Work?

Photo facials use a spectrum of light converted into heat energy to improve skin imperfections. The selected light targets chromophores, which are color pigments found in the skin, such as melanin in brown spots and freckles and hemoglobin in broken or dilated blood vessels. The light waves can also target specific protein molecules in acne bacteria and collagen.

Using the GMAX Pro Laser at Bliss Medispa, we treat skin imperfections, sun damage, and rosacea without disrupting the skin’s surface. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) activates natural collagen and elastin production in the active skin cells (fibroblasts), improving the skin’s overall texture and complexion. Skin rejuvenation treatments enhance the skin’s color and texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and minimize open pores.

Treatment Frequency

For best results, we recommend completing 4 to 6 treatments, 3 to 4 weeks apart. The number of treatments required may vary depending on the skin’s condition and individual expectations. During your free pre-treatment consultation, Bliss Medispa’s Skin and Laser Specialist will discuss a personalized treatment plan with you.

Preparing for Your Visit

Bliss Medispa provides a free consultation before any cosmetic treatments to give you important information about the treatment process and provide pre and post-care instructions for your health and safety.

Avoid UV Exposure: You cannot be treated if you have had ultraviolet (UV) exposure from the sun or sunbeds within the past 4 to 6 weeks. Avoid spray tans as they stain the outer skin cells.
Medications: Do not take medications that could make your skin more photosensitive. Always use sunscreen. The use of aspirin, ibuprofen, and other anti-inflammatory or blood-thinning medications may increase the risk of bruising. Please contact your physician before discontinuing any medication before treatment.

Pain and Comfort

Tolerance levels vary, but most clients report minimal or no pain, often describing it as a slight sensation similar to an elastic band snapping on the skin. The GentleMax Pro® Laser uses cooling technology to soothe the area with a burst of cool air after targeting the skin.

Satisfaction with Results

Photo facial treatments are recognized for a high level of patient satisfaction. Patients are pleased with the results because the process treats the full face, neck, chest, or hands, rather than addressing a single isolated area or imperfection. With a series of treatments, the GentleMax Pro® Laser technology helps restore a more youthful appearance without downtime or prolonged recovery.

Who Should Avoid Photo Facial Treatments?

  • Recently sun-tanned skin (including tanning beds and foams)
  • A history of Accutane / Isotretinoin / Epuris
  • An acute herpes episode at the time of treatment
